Sexual Abuse and Mental Health
All of these types of events are covered by ACC, even if they happened some time ago. Mental or sexual abuse can cause physical injuries, mental injuries, social problems, post traumatic stress, disfunctions, drug use, depression and suicidal tendances. Under New Zealand legislation, our ACC system should be looking after you.
These claims are termed “sensitive”, you are entitled to all sorts of help and entitlements with these injuries. If you have suffered any of these events please contact me. We’ve heard so many stories about people who have received assistance from ACC, but not their full entitlement, and even more from people who have been turned down by ACC for their sexual abuse claims. We know this isn’t OK, and the New Zealand ACC system is supposed to be there to help people when they need it.
